B and A had an amazing idea for their wedding celebration—traveling across Europe and capturing their special moments along the way. When they mentioned Iceland as their chosen destination for their wedding photoshoot, I couldn't have agreed more. I mean, where else in Europe (or even the world) could be more perfect? But guess what? They also had plans for a photo session in Paris! Talk about an incredible contrast and an absolutely brilliant idea!
As you may already know, adventure weddings and elopements have no rules, allowing you to design your wedding day exactly as you envision it. In the case of B and A, they decided to forgo a traditional ceremony, having already completed the legal formalities in their home country. Instead, they opted for an epic road trip through the picturesque southern region of Iceland, exploring some of its most magnificent locations.
Right from the beginning, B and A had a clear vision—they wanted to start their adventure at Diamond Beach. Despite the fog and rain that accompanied us, we embraced the elements and experienced the place in a truly remarkable way. As always, my recommendation is to start early, especially at popular tourist spots like Diamond Beach. This way though, we had the entire place to ourselves for the photoshoot. The rain and wind persisted, but B and A remained determined and were happy with what we had captured so far. Undeterred, we continued our journey to other breathtaking locations, including Reynisfjara beach, Skógafoss, and Seljalandsfoss.
It was a truly beautiful day, and in my opinion, the rain only added to the charm of the photos. The experience was different, but in a good way that makes you value the adventure. This goes to show that if it happens to rain on your elopement day, it doesn't have to be seen as a setback whatsoever.
Over the years, living in Iceland and capturing adventure weddings and elopements, I've learned that weather and time don't dictate the pace of your day or your life. There's no such thing as bad weather—only a negative outlook or lack of mental preparation. It's crucial to remember that when you decide to celebrate your elopement in Iceland, it's highly likely that you'll encounter "bad weather" during your special day. However, rather than letting it dampen your spirits, consider it an opportunity to create a truly unique and memorable wedding experience. Rest assured, you'll look back on it fondly for the rest of your lives and have a photo gallery to treasure forever.
As the day drew to a close, B and A may have been wet, but they were undeniably happy. And to me, that's what matters the most. May they carry home incredible memories and in the coming days, receive even more remarkable photos to forever cherish the adventure they embarked upon.
If you're in the midst of planning your own Iceland wedding or elopement, consider embracing the unpredictability of the weather and allowing it to add to the magic of your special day. With an experienced Iceland wedding photographer (and local) by your side, we can create memories that will last a lifetime.
